Hi -
I'm almost ready to submit my site to the search engines. There are companies out there like Submit-it! (bCentral) and NetMechanic that will submit my site to up to 100 search engines and directories for a reasonable fee.
Any feedback from forum members that have used either of the above, or similar, would be helpful.
Also, are the major search engines sensitive to case? i.e. would they be able to distinguish between "Printing" and "printing" if I use "Printing" in the <title> and "printing" as a meta description? Is it better to use lower case throughout?
All replies appreciated.
Thanks!
Robsta
I have used submit-it and it seems to work ok for me. Most of the major search engines usally are case sensitive when you choose advaced search for example. If you do a basic search it is usally not case sensitive. Hope that ansers your question. :D

Hi - Thanks for the reply.
I'm more concerned about search engine ranking - that the search engine might not read "printing" and "Printing" as having the same meaning; for example if one was in the <title> and the other was a keyword. I'm sure that they're smarter than that - however, a meta tage generating tool I tried would not process my submission because the <title> used mixed-case copy and the keywords used all lower case. Is this being too fussy?

I don't know why a meta tag generator would do that but from my experiance it does not really matter eaither way. Some search engins will give you the same result nomatter what case it is in. I may be wrong though after all I'm not a master like others in this forum. Does that help?

I'm not sure why the meta tag generator would do that either... I thought this might be one of the latest trends in search engine optimization.
You've been most helpful! Thanks again.

Content and well-formed semantic mark-up tend the influence the major search engines; search engines typically trawl for strings of text thus case sensitivity is of less importance than the actual word itself, and remember the average user tends to be too lazy type using case sensitivity.
