Hi I am not a graphic designer but a friend’s rock band and have got a graphic designer to create them a new logo.

I'm not to sure about it i.e. how professional it looks and whether it complements their sound. Tell me what you think of the logo and if you think I should mention it to my friend.

In my opinion... you are correct in doubting the professionalism of Silver Screens logo. A few things caught my eye...

1) Poor rendering - it was not a crisp clean logo, hard to read, and very pixelated

2) Typography doesn't fit - scratch type font would better serve a grunge or metal band, not ideal for a bluesy folk band

3) The characters aren't too bad they just need to be cleaned up a little bit and I drop the shadows and put them closer together

4) I'd also tell the band to stay keep doing what they're doing their older stuff (Demo1/mems vocals) blows

For inspiration they should check other blues/folk artist logos ... see what they are doing. You may be amazed at how simple or non existant the band logo is. In my opinion the logo is no where near as important as the band's music.
