When i put the html include code in dreamweaver, I can't edit anything in the "Design" look. Two images are attached to better illustrate what I am talking about.

design mode (http://web.ics.purdue.edu/~liugc/temp/error2.gif)
However, if the file I include is not a valid file name (such as the file doesn't exist), I will be able to edit the file in "Design" mode fine.

This becomes troublesome because every time I want to edit something in "Design" mode, I have to change the file name, then change it back after finishing the changes.
So I am wondering if there's another way to work around this.
