If I .... errr ...ahem ... completely accidentally typed in a url such as 'absolutelymassivetits.com' .... and every time I go to look for a domain begining with 'a' I get this in the url bar - how do I delete it without getting one of those browser washers - clearing the history does not do it.

I presume you are using IE. I dont know if this works, but you may try.
Tools >> Internet Options... >> ["content" tab] >> [Auto Complete...]
Here, click [Clear Forms] to clear all autocomplete forms. Note ALL autocomplete forms will be cleared.

press delete on your keyboard should do the trick.

Hi Mavrick,
ok, i click in a textbox, press the down arrow key to display the autocomplete words, move mouse over the one i want to delete then press delete on my keyboard. Any other variation of this will not delete the words.

Ribeyed,
yes I know what you mean - I have done this in the past to delete, for example, previously searched words in Google.

However it is not working in the address bar above - if I highlight and delete on keyboard nothing happens - you try it - clear the bar - type in any letter and you should see lots of urls - highlight one and try to delete it - does it work?

Thanks

iora and havik ... you have nailed it ... it seems to be the cookies that was the problem ... clearing them has cleared the address bar ... maybe you should develop your own browser washer ... anyway I can let mrs. maverick log on again now ...

thanks

By "I" you mean "she"?
LOL
tsk-tsk Maverick.

You should be able to get rid of it by deleting the history (and set it to 0 days to keep), deleting temporary internet files (and kill the ones in the "settings" area too!), and switch to a browser that "she" doesn't use (like Opera or Netscape) for your more advanced research into the female form.
LOL!

Good luck!

ha ha... it's ok maverick... i think all of us have been guilty of something at one time or another...

and my history is set to 1 day and i empty everything upon leaving the net.... but you know... if she REALLY wants to know where you go, all she has to do is install a net monitor that is invisible that will track your every move... in fact, how do you know she hasn't???? something to ponder and stress over. hee hee hee... :D
