Ok. A guy has this website http://bandlands.com and his vision is awesome but his design is absolutely horrendous. He's purchased a new server and wants to start fresh. I'm looking for a price to give him.

Here's what the job looks like:
Company logo needed
Main page
Calendar
Guestbooks (multiple)
50-100 individual pages for bands
Store front/Shopping cart with ability to purchase and download individual songs and videos
A couple other misc pages (news, contact, etc)
And probably a few things I'm leaving out.

He's a little concerned with budget so I'm thinking of telling him $70 and hour and a not-to-exceed price of $3000. So basically he should think about it as $3000. Is this too much? Too little? Thanks

I recommend you charge a flat fee rather than charge per the hour. Devise a pricing scheme that allows you to finance the project. I am inclined to try hard to get as much of the money upfront as possible. A client will often hold off final acceptance until they have enough money to pay. Charging upfront allows you to get enough money to finance the project and you don't have to wait for payment until the client is ready -- you just don't start until they are!

What you charge is solely up to you. We can tell that it's too little or too much, but you should estimate your costs and then devise a quote that you think is fair.

Regards.

100 pages @ 1 hr a piece @ 70 an hr = 7,000 bucks

id say you are low considering each one of the artists will need access to the "shopping cart" eh
this sounds like a very large project to make it under 3 grand especially if each artists page gets its own design woahhhh then you are looking at much more than an hr to complete each one
