I don't mean just templates - I mean also offering customization of the design, content migration, etc.

I generally come up with my best designs when I'm not asked to do one. Not saying I don't come up with good designs on request, but generally speaking I can have problems on occasion. For instance, right now I'm doing a simple Children's Museum website, and I for the life of me can't think of a single good idea.

So, I'm wondering if there is any real market for selling a template with my services along side that.

Also, out of curiousity to those of you who do sell templates.. What do you sell, exactly? Do you sell a basic page with various layout templates ready made, or do you sell it with a CMS or something to make managing easier? How far do you go to support the customer after they have purchased a template? I guess I'll ask about pricing, too :)

Provided you own the layout, there is nothing wrong with redistributing it. For example, when I develop a site, I normally design several layouts and ultimately decide on one (with the inclusion of the client). All of the unused templates are added to my library so I can reuse them if I ever need to.

I would not advertise this as your service, though. Template's have gained a bad name over the past few years.

Regards.

It would just totally depend on who you are trying to market to. Personally, all the "template" sites I have come across just use the same recycled templates and are getting so out dated its not even funny. A FRESH company with a couple hundred NEW templates and adding to them daily might be something worth checking out.

Why do people feel the need to spam their services here... If I was a mod, I would rule with an Iron Fist and not stand for this stuff. These kinds of posts dont help anyone!

Yeah. Just to clarify, I'm not interesting in buying.. I'm interesting in selling, but I'm not sure whether it would be profitable or not :P

If you do it right. What I would do is keep a bunch of templates on hand for examples, then custom tailor the best fit to match what your client needs. That way you can reuse the templates, and you have a pre-build portfolio of sorts, AND it cuts dev time.
