I have put up a personal home page at http://mathisenonline.com/ and wonder if anyone would care to have a look at it.
The image galleries will be redone, but I was thinking of keeping the basic layout with thumbnails to the left and the viewed image on the rest of the page.
Should I keep or lose the first page - it's only there to giva the opportunity to choose your language, but then again, you can always switch languages from the menu, so ...
Perhaps the MATHISEN online logo should lose the flames?
And, yeah, I know I still have some work to do with the contents itself.
But, let me hear what you think, guys. Perhaps most important, does it look OK in all browsers? Please, let me know.

hey not bad... a couple things...
validate -> http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fmathisenonline.com%2F
lose the tables (tables work, but css is argued to be more efficient)...
your design isn't BAD, but it just looks really plain imho...
your on the right track though... nice work... :)
the site doenst fit to an 800x600, just a couple of pxs off. don't use javascripted menus with out having a back up, eg a person who has JavaScripting turned off. or even a search bot! search bots believe me fnd things easier when they don't have to generate links, they find links in hidden divs easier than links which are produced on the spot.

Thank you for your feedback.
I had a feeling that the flamimg banner was a bit "Harry", as we say in Norway. It will be replaced as soon as I have someting better to put there.
Merci beaucoup pour votre compliments, mademoiselle du Frat :)
It should now fit to 800 x 600 resolution, the menu was too long. It was misspelled, too, and when I corrected the translation error ("Contact oss" instead of "Contact us"), it showed up OK in 800 x 600 on my screen.
You certainly got a point about the menu. It works without java, but it won't unfold, so I'll have to do something about that.
your design isn't BAD, but it just looks really plain imho...JDM71488 - what did you mean by that? imho ???
I'll have to look into the validation. Good point.
The tables are there as a remnant of the past. I might lose them and only use CSS as soon as I learn more about CSS.
your on the right track though... nice work... Thank you, JDM71488. :)
Does the page show OK in all browsers?
Does the translate-button (English pages and Norwegian pages) work properly with everyone? It should take you to the English / Norwegian version of the same page you are looking at (the guestbook won't translate, though, I'm trying to work that out). If you get the page not found message, it's probably because there is no English version of that particular page.

Merci beaucoup pour votre compliments, mademoiselle du Frat :)
That would be either "...pour vos compliments.." (plural) or "...pour votre compliment.." (singular)
;)
JDM71488 - what did you mean by that? imho ???

Thanks for the correction. So, I learned something new this day, too. :)
But it wasn't half bad, I think, for someone who doesn't speak French, to get it right except for the plural form ... ;)
Thanks for explaining the imho. I'm not familiar with all the abbreviations used in the forums. I'll pick it up, bit by bit.

I like the drop down menus. I think it isn't bad. Is there any other way to accomplish this without using JavaScript?
yesSS! go to www.alistapart.com they have heaps of diffrent methods, remember you can use javascript but make sure u have a backup for people with out javascript, eg, use css for navagation but javascript to make it move and do effects. but if javascript is off the menu will move it can be achieved with the hidden div.

I've been told not to use image backgrounds, I'm not sure why. But I still think you should have a background on a personal homepage. Without it, it just seems too business like and professional. It doesn't have a comfortable feel to it without a background. Even a plain color would be better to me. But that's just my opinion.

Thank you for your opinions, folks. I appreciate all your comments very much, and thanks for the link, dera.
Rabidus lupus - it's not "just your opinion", it's your opinion, and that's what I'm asking for. I appreciate your comments, and you have a point.
All feedback is welcome, positive or negative. The guestbook will now appear in English, too (of course, the posts will appear in the language they are written in). You are welcome to sign it, if you like.

you may want to enlarge the font a bit. some users may have a hard time of reading the text.

I agree, the font is definitely too small. Will be fixed very soon.
