http://www.vrieslandchurch.org/test/default.asp

My first attempt at very simple ASP and also my first website that I've done for someone else. I really need help with colors, so if you have a good combination I would appreciate a suggestion. Let's hear some comments!

I would put hyperlinks on the email address of people in "contacts" section.

The text on the longer pages is falling out of the white box onto the blue background, probably should stay on the white. This is only happening in Firefox, not IE for me.
I like a book called The Big Book of Color in Design myself for inspiration but you can find plenty of color choosers on the web for free if you can narrow down one color you want to work with, then they will have suggestion colors either in the same range or total opposites for drama.

just sum stuff on your style sheet which you do not need

html
{
height: 100%;
}
body
{
height: 100%;
}

thats not needed you do not need to specify this unless it is diffrent than 100%

your problem

div#content
{
height: 100%;

^^ thats why your content is sticking out, either put and overflow on it, or dont specify height.

Thanks for you comments guys, I took out all the extra code and the height on the content DIV. Hopefully that will fix the problem. I will also be changing the emails to hyperlinks.

Thanks again for the comments.

Hi, BigBen -

You might consider making the navigation link boxes a gold color, to offset the blue of your page background.

Something else that might help would be to work with the color levels of the photograph. On my high resolution screen, it appears very blue, to the point that it is quite dim. Try opening the photo in Photoshop or Fireworks and manipulating the RGB levels. Use the red of the bricks as a guide, so you'll know when the colors are balanced.

Good Luck!

KDLA- Are you refering to the image on the home page? That is very very old and I believe it was scanned in (Which explains the lack of picture quality). I plan on replacing it with a new high resolution digital camera picture pretty soon.

Mausau2000- I'm still playing around with the colors. It's not my favorite either.

Thanks for the comments.

Oops, sorry BigBen, for my lack of clarification.
Yes, I was referring to the photo of the church, on the homepage.

Once you get a good photo, color options may become more obvious.

If not, you might consider some of the liturgical colors: purple, gold, white, or red.
