Bare in mind most of web editing is editing text files - i think you would probbaly be okay with a pentium 2 400, but i'd challenge you to find one of those... i think your main poroblem is operating systems - ifyou buy bottom of the range and it runs XP okay then it will be more than enough for web development. And i would say that you'll probably have a lot of things open at one time, so more memory is better, but again mostly they're just text files, so 128 meg ram is probably fine, and i think that's probably entry level now. If, however, you want to play c&c generals (which you should) then you'll need a good spec, i'd say 2+ gig processor, 512 meg ram and an 80 gig hdd. but just for web development? i would say minimum reqd is a pentium 2 400, 128 meg ram, 20 gig hdd. webdeveloper.com
