i know it takes practice... but i have been doing this everyday since 2003... i also know some people have the knack for it where others don't, and i think i'm stuck in the middle... :(

http://www.accessjdm.com

i have a new layout made, it was in progress, but now at 12:34 AM its done for now... what do you think of it? particularly the header and footer... i think i may need to add something more to the logo... i will probably change some of the h2's in the #menu to look prettier and go more with the design... image replacement maybe? idk...

also, on non-home pages, should i display the last articles like that with the names almost breaking the width? i think it looks funny... the journal dates look fine to me, but something about articles is funny... *i made the last 3 journals and articles a little smaller, but up against the navigation's larger text does it look ok?

if you have any ideas for the header and footer, you can post, or give me a link to a site that is similar... i think im going to put a random picture in there like other personal sites do because my sites never really use pictures... ?

i have made a goal to be featured on cssvault, or one of those sites and i hope this layout is the basis of reaching my goal... but i want to feel like my site deserves to be on there first... :)

thank you

nice, I especialy love the use of the minimalist touch, although you could clean up small bits here and there(like your forum's colours and appearance not looking right against the blog), but overall I like it.

You do a great job, Jeremy. I am proud to know you! Man, I get jealous of you and all the other smart people...

Well, anyways I think it looks good. It has a different type of feel to it, perhaps because it's a different kind of style. I don't know how to describe it, but I do like it. Like you, I am not sure about the navbar. There is something missing, but I guess I must ponder about it. Don't worry, just keep believing in yourself and you'll be on css vault. :)

Great job! The comments still don't work though. The email and web site fields, once the comment's posted, don't have anything in them, and the message doesn't come up at all.

lol... yeah. sorry (again) your the first post so i have to troubleshoot now... it turns out, i changed (on the form) name='email' to id='email' for a lot of them so not much went in...

i have posted a test and it works now... but i deleted it so feel free to post comments...

Hi, I think your website looks good. My only suggestion to you is that it seems a little bit cluttered where the texts are. A lot of webpages are skimmed; more often than not, people don't want to sit and read paragraphs for the information that they want.

Try breaking up your texts a bit more and utilizing white space. It will be easier on the eyes and a lot easier to read.

Hi -
I like your design.

If you're worried about the banner, how about adding another color to the grid in the blue horizontal bar, below your name? Converting some of the small grid lines to an accent color, like orange or chocolate brown? (But still retaining a majority in the white.)

I don't think an image in the banner is necessary. Since this is a personal site, really only a photo of yourself would be relevant - but it's not very professional.

I'm not sure as to what you're referring to when you express concern about the article headers. They look fine to me.

Great Work! I can't believe you're 16! What an impressive product -

One thing that makes it difficult to read is that he has a lot of wordy link messages. This makes it distracting when you are trying to read the content and your eye wants to wander at the blue blob towards the middle.

He already has the Post Comments link under his journal, there is no need to reiterate it the link within his post.

One suggestion would be to place general text links at the bottom/top that are easily accessible.

hey,

a fellow 16yo in web design I like it!

anyway great website, just needs a bit of tweaking.

how about trying a fixed background. i often find it works better with texture backgrounds like yours. body{background-attachment:fixed}
