I am in need of some information on where to start with this project that has been presented to me.

I will need to figure out how to create a 3d model (using flash or whatever may work) of a torso with different vests applied to the torso. I will need the object to rotate 360 degrees. There will be different vests and products that I will need to model.

It will not necessarily need to be interactive.

Any ideas?

I found a similar looking object on the cingular site (http://www.cingular.com), they currently have an interactive 360 degree model of thier phones.

Thanks!

Jerry

Hey, I could have done this by phone, in person or via email, but I figured I'd humor the post.

So... Flash basically lets you facilitate three dimensional photographs or a completed 3D model. You would basically set each view of the vest - front, back, sides and all transitional views - in key frames and allow either manual or automatic movement of the playhead via "buttons."

So really you'll end up utilizing two forms of software if that's what you choose to do, otherwise you'll probably end up with a non-navigable movie clip of the rotation.

If you're already familiar with flash and timeline based animation then you could pick up on a program called Poser. Curious Labs is the name of the company that owns the rights. I have used Poser to make 3D Models for our clients recently. It also exports the animations to .swf format.

There is a learning curve, and depending on how quick of a learner you are you could probably have something usable within a couple of days work.
