Where to Get started with Ad Click Tracking

How do I get started with tracking clicks of the ads on my website? :confused:

I do not know if I need to use Asp or javascript, etc.
I read this article here on HtmlGoodies: http://www.htmlgoodies.com/beyond/asp/article.php/3470061
I thought I could modify the ad-rotator to just track my clicks, I do not need to rotate ads.

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, but I need to be directed on were to begin.
My site is mostly CSS. The ads are mostly all gif images.
