I was just wandering what the the two GHZ numbers mean:

I have
Dell INSPIRON 15160
Mobile Intel(R)
Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.06 GHZ
1.83 GHZ, 1.25 GB of RAM.

I just wanna know is the "3.06 GHZ" the speed of the CPU, and the "1.83 GHz is the Cache. And if so, what does that exactly mean, the Cache??? I kind of know, and I read about it, but I am not so certain.

Thanks for any ideas

3.06GHz on mains power and 1.83GHz on battery power to save on the battery and make it run for longer.

cache can be thought of as memory right on the die of the processor. The more the better as that memory is accessed very quickly and anything that cannot fit in cache has to go into ram. Cache saves a lot of time, just a bit more cache really increases the performance of a system. That is why they like to jack up the cache on mobile chips because they can then drop the clock and still get good performance yet save power.

You are on a mobile chip... I would guess that you probably have 2mb of cache... or atleast 1.

I only have 1mb, but I am on an amd chip... amd 64 turion mobile.
