My mail got a hole in it !

Why when ever you post a new topic it shows mail with a hole in it ?http://forums.webdeveloper.com/images/icons/icon5.gif

I know this might be stupid to make a post for a question like this but i am so used to making topic that sometimes this just seems like a better idea so if you get made for me making a topic like this then i am sorry and i will try to quit :|

It means you've posted on that topic. It's handy because you can come back and check when people have replied to a topic you're part of, esp. when you're having an argument with someone ;)
