my friend can delete other posts on his accont in his own threads that he made
at the bottom it says adminitrator tools where do u get that ???

well that shouldn't be. even in the forums that i moderate, there is no admin menu at the bottom of the page; it is all at the top. when i try to delete a thread with my non-moderator account i am not allowed to. who is your friend that has such magical powers?

i was at his house when i saw it it was called adminitrater tools at the bottm and had stuff like split thread and delete posts

did you actually see him delete a thread or was there just the menu there? because i've noticed a bug in the software that occasionally opens up the admin menu under 'thread tools' when it wasn't supposed to.

I'm sure the friend is mistaken. A mod probably deleted the post around the time that they were attempting to. I checked the account and all permissions are default for the registered user group.

I checked permissions for his account, they're standard. I checked also with a standard user account. The tools show up but they don't work.

Something not quite correct. 1st off, those are the admin tools from the old version of vb, not this version.

Well, I can confirm this. Steps to Replicate:


Go to http://anonymouse.ws/
Through there anonymous www service, go to a thread you started
You get admin options


Don't know if they work, I haven't tried. I don't think it would, but I don't really know. If you don't go to the anonymouse.ws service, you get no such options.

Testing it, it appears I don't have permission. I'm shown options, but can't do anything.

Yeah I didn't think it would work. Those are not the admin options in this version, nor is that the exact configuration of the other visible page elements in this version.

Yeah there's no worries, I just tried. It won't even let me into the private areas of the forum because it can't identify me.

Yeah I figured. I tried but I hadn't started any threads outside the mod forum, and it wouldn't let me in there at all

Yes. You only get the options on threads you offer. But you can't actually do anything - unauthorized.
