How to make the image have the diagonal corners is easy as pie. Open Photoshop, draw a rectangle, then you can just erase the corner. What you can do is make another rectangle on another layer, rotate it, position it on your image, select it, go to the image layer, click delete, and it will erase the selection and give you this rectangle with diagonal corner. Then, all you have to do is add the background color you want as a layer behing your image, and save the rectangle... The trick is to have a rectangular image, but with a background that matches your page's, so that it gives the impression to be diagonally cut at the edge. Is it really what you wanted ? I have the impression I'm doing baby talk, so please forgive me if your question was completely different. However, if you need help with this rectangle, I'm here. jrthor2 07-08-2005, 07:23 AM I tried your suggestion, I made a rectangle, then created another rectangle on a different layer, rotated it on top of my first layer, selected the diagonal layer, then selected the first rectangle layer and clicked delete, but it did not do anything. Dan you also tell me how do make the curved lines pattern used in the top graphic? Thanks for your help! Ness_du_Frat 07-08-2005, 07:33 AM ok, right now I have something scheduled, but as soon as I come back ( in two hours ) I'll try to make a quick tutorial. Ok ? jrthor2 07-08-2005, 07:38 AM That would be great, thanks!!! Ness_du_Frat 07-08-2005, 11:58 AM Hi, sorry I am so late, I had to take care of something first. I'll do your tutorial right now ! Ness_du_Frat 07-08-2005, 03:44 PM I'm done !!!! tutorial (http://nesssworld.free.fr/tutoriaux/The diagonal corners tutorial.pdf) jrthor2 07-10-2005, 07:26 AM That's great, thanks. Now, could you showme how to do the "wavy" paths in the top header on that page? Thanks again for all your help!!! jrthor2 07-11-2005, 07:45 AM I tried your tutorial. When I create the red rectangle, move it to where I want it, and ctrl + right click the layer, I get a menu that pops up with my layers on it. I choose that layer, then without clicking anywhere else I click the other rectangle and click delete and nothing happens. Also, when creating my rectangles, do I need to raserize them or something, because if I just create a new layer and draw a rectanle using the shape tool, my layer in the layers pallet has a shape object now, it doesn't look like yours does. jrthor2 07-15-2005, 07:08 AM Can anyone help me with the this and the "wavy" paths from the link in the first post? WoD 07-15-2005, 07:56 AM Here's a tip: Stop doing vector web graphics in a primarily RASTER based photo editing application. USE MACROMEDIA FIREWORKS! Gah! Web designers who exclusively use photoshop are ametuers! jrthor2 07-18-2005, 12:32 PM I'm sure someone can help me get the "wavy" paths. Please!!!!! Ness_du_Frat 07-19-2005, 05:02 AM Did you manage the corners ? For your rectangle, you have to do it in raster, not in vectors, otherwise, my tutorial won't work. It's longer than what I would do, but you seem to be a newbie in Photoshop, so I thought I would try to make it as clear and as simple as possible. The wavy things are easy. I mean, I'm sure it takes maximum 10 minutes including uploading the files. But first, you need to understand photoshop. I wish I had the time to make another tutorial, but right now, I'm too busy with my own site, sorry. Try google. Search for photoshop tutorials, you'll find plenty of them, including the wavy things, and even other things that can give you ideas. If you need help, though, I'll try to view this thread regularly. jrthor2 07-19-2005, 07:12 AM What exactly do you mean by doing it in raster? Do you mean draw the rectangle with the rectanble shape tool, then raserize that layer? jrthor2 07-19-2005, 08:15 AM Ok, I got the corners tutorial to work, thanks for all your help. Still having problems witht he wavy lines though. Ness_du_Frat 07-21-2005, 06:04 AM I'll try to help you ASAP. Right now, my dsl line crashed down ( a storm ), and I'm trying my best to get it back by calling everywhere, but as long as it's not working, I won't be doing anything on the computer because it upsets me so much not to have the dsl and, not knowing exactly what happened, I dedicate all my time to reseting my modem and trying new parameters, whereas I should just leave it alone. Anyway, wavy lines are easy. Basically, what you can do is use the pen tool, draw a curve, and then fill it with a color, and then do the same with another curve, on a different layer, and basically try to make a nice pattern. It shouldn't be very difficult, but I'll try to make another tutorial when my DSL line is back. one4plur 07-21-2005, 03:40 PM http://www.pegaweb.com/tutorials/web-page-header/web-page-header-1.htm webdeveloper.com
