I'm going to install mysql all over again (I think I mucked it up). I'm trying to install it and I keep getting an error (I think tthis is because a mysql folder exists in c:\, so I deleted it (or am trying). For some reason I cant delete some of the files (3). Dol I need to get rid of the mysql directory to install mysql all over again? Do you know why Im getting an error?
Thanks (see atachment)

Is there still support for versions of mysql that old? Are they maintained? If not, that might be why. Other than trying a more up to date version, I'm not sure. I've never tried installing it on Windows.

For windows it is pretty straight forward...

Go Here (http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/mysql/4.1.html) and scroll down to Windows Downloads and pick a mirror

- or -

You can skip all that and just go here (http://dev.mysql.com/get/Downloads/MySQL-4.1/mysql-4.1.12a-win32.zip/from/pick#mirrors) to select a mirror

It has an installer that walks you through the installation.

Also you must uninstall any previous versions of MySQL for you to be able to install a newer version that is 4.1.5+

I use PHPDEV, it contains PHP, Apache and MySQL as well as others all together in a single exe and couldnt be easier to set up. This way I have my own testing server on my local machine. Saves a bit of time on logging in, uploading, test, edit etc. If you would like a copy visit www.firepages.com.au They have just launched v5 (it still in BETA testing but I got it and works fine)
