Okay, I have some sort of problem with javascript. I have XP and my browser is IE. There are certain scripts on webpages that do not open correctly. Some examples are:
www.drf.com - the advertisements on the left hand side just stay black
www.upward.com - the gray bar across the page where the links are supposed to be does not show up.
Additionally, I am not able to open a mail in Microsoft Outlook Web Access.
What do I need to do to fix this problem? It is driving me nuts!

Hi dleathers,
Get rid of Microsoft javascript if you still have it on your computer.
Install "Sun javascript" ..it's more secure & works much better. You can find lots of How tos on the web.. just google it.
iF THAT DOESN'T FIX THE PROBLEM.. IT'S NOT A JAVASCRIPT PROBLEM. Look into changing your web browser.
Hope this helps

Or you could just get Firefox. Why do people even use IE still?

I'm lazy! I use IE6--only on my compaq presario because it don't have internet.
Maybe I should nab firefox and use it for building my sites.

This would be a good idea although it may not be a problem the JS interpretor you have installed, it may be the JS itself (contains errors), or you could have JS partially blocked in your IE security settings.
I would suggest looking into browser alternatives as well -- you can check out Browse Happy (http://www.browsehappy.com) for a few testimonials from others who have chosen a browsing alternative and find out just why IE is unsafe.

Sun has nothing to do with Javascript, nor does Microsoft. It's a netscape authored scripting language. You can't install or uninstall it. A browser either supports JS or it doesn't. You can, however, disable it. Go into IE tools>>internet options>> security, and add that page to your trusted sites. You may also click advanced button and scroll til you see scripting. Be sure it's enabled.
Sun Microsystems owns Java.

Yep, you're dead on about the security settings. SP2 tends to block lots of scripting. In fact, if it's local on your machine it blocks ALL of it. You have to expressly allow it each time. All because there are malicious people in the world who have nothing better to do in their parent's basements but think up ways to mess up the PCs of others.

Waaaaaaa.....
E=MC2
Sunny G

I know what that means!
E is energy, M is mass & C is the speed of light moving per square!
Mass x the speed of light moving per square = how much energy something has!
Mausau2000

Correct :)
The reason y people use it so much is that it sounds cool
Like this
E = MC 2
