is it gonna go anywhere? i haven't heard much, but i know that some people have been charged... with the millions doing it, do you think that i should be worried about getting in trouble in the future...
i have safe-share and i know its not legal, but i don't have any adware or spyware... i have around 400 songs already, which i know isn't MUCH, but its probably worth a pretty penny...
i am thinking about stopping and just buying cds and ripping them from now-on...
what do you think?
p.s. i searched a found a thread about high priced program cracks but not illegal music downloads...

Buy CD's. For me, illegal mp3's hold no ground. I am too passionate about my music and film to just steal it.
I only download mp3's that the band themselves have authorised and posted on their own Web Site.

i think i may start... that way i will have the whole cd and all of the tracks as they are supposed to be...
i hope that all the ones i have already downloaded can be just "forgotten about"... :) but i know better... :( hopefully though if i stop and uninstall everything if anything does happen to where they start charging more and more people they won't get me...
i just don't want to have a big bill to pay back in a few years...

Good idea. I, for one, do not think that any standard downloader will get busted. The authorities will go for the suppliers rather than the users. The same concept applies to that of the illegal drug industry. The money is spent on catching and persecuting the dealers, rather than the junkies. This is from a penalty point-of-view -- I would assume alot of money is spent on preventative causes, also.

thanks for your help... i do say that after i have been downloading for a while, i feel like i've already done it so why stop... but i also feel that there may be a chance that the penalty (if caught) would be less...
lol, i thought about buying the cd for everyone of the tracks that i've downloaded so if i ever was caught i could say that i have the original copy or something like that...
but, now that you've proved a good point to me about how it would be more ethical for authorities to go to the source instead of charging each person, i have a big weight lifted off my shoulders... i mean i know you COULD be wrong and there may be some guy that will not stop until everyone is charged, but i'd bet on your guess...
my username will still be registered on safe-share, but i will remove it from my computer... so there is a chance that authorities could see my ip and all that if they got the list, but i doubt it will go that far...
i also think it'd be different if i was on kazaa! safe-share is supposed to be one of the best as far as security goes...
anyone else have a say on this? thanks again buntine! :)
