Hi,
after the screen saver starts, after about 10 minutes, 1 long & 1 short beeps starts. When I click any key on the keyboard or move the mouse, the beeps stops.
Any ideas why this is happening?
WinXP

Hi saini,
" I long & 1 short beep ".. that's a "weird" beep code... not in any manuals I've read. I'ts obviously some type of hardware problem..maybe a failing component.. :(
Do some basic troubleshooting & post back here with the results or for more help. You can use the troubleshooting charts at my website to walk you thru it.
Hope this helps :)

Hi,
It's like a siren going on, the type you hear on firebrigade or police machine or ambulance. I read somewhere that it has something to do with DMA . But couldnt find any more info. So, I am not even sure if its really a DMA issue.
Any ideas?

Hi again ,
re: It's like a siren going on
That's definitely NOT a "beep code".
If it's a DMA issue.. then DO the hardware troubleshooting like I previously suggested & you should find out what the trouble is.
That's the ONLY way to solve the problem.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Post back with the results.

Hi again,
the hardware troubleshooter didn't gave any hint. It's all correct in the hardware part.

Hi again saini,
Did you replace/add memory recently ? Is that why you asked about DMA issues. If its a "true" DMA issue it's because of BAD/incompatible memory-send it back. The beginners charts should have alerted you to the bad memory problem.
If the "Beginners Charts" didn't give you any "hints" then the problem is more involved (ie. advanced) and PROBABLY lies one of the following:
> sound card
> onboard sound
> motherboard
> other hardware component
You can get the advanced charts to help you sort it out OR
take it to a tech.
Hope this helps
