I want put in this forum this new from a hosting which offer hosting , bad hosting and other products as sell oscommerce and other products for 700 and 500€ , the GNU Licence say you can give a distribute the oscommerce phpnuke , etc free but you don´t sell this products , this guy sell this as own , it´s incredible but true i want put this post for know opinions to respect and say to other people carefull whit this the free software has´t price ok no thing else , the web of this guy it´s www.vaxnu.com , bye from spain and i hope in this forum no spanish the opinion , in all latin´s forums all people think this is illegal , and incredible , WebMasterFrank

I have no idea what they say on that site you posted but I do know what you said and I do believe that you need to rethink your position. You are incorrect in your assumption of what the GNU License is. You seem to think that if something is released under this license that you may not charge money for it. This is a widespread falsehood. It seems that when people see the word "free" they automatically think money. Well this is not the case. As long as this company distributes OSCommerce with the license intact and provide all the source code then they can charge what they want for it...

It´s true you can charge money for your services using this software and win money whit this ok but you don´t understand , this people sell this software as if they make this programs you understand me , this people don´t make oscommerce and sell this and other programs as they make this programs for 700 € and more , you can understand this , one thing it´s put your bussines into a web and charge money for use this as hosting and the other thing it´s sell as supermarket this products , this products it´s free you can go to the web of oscommerce and down ok? nothing can put a shop and say hey¡¡ i sell you linux , php5 , php-nuke and oscommerce by 1500 € , you can use for commercial propose but no for sell and win money whit only ""sell"" another thing its win money as hosting or installing or information about this programs , it´s perfect but my refer it´s only about of this , you can across my web this page translate yo can choose you translate and read this web and go to the original page , thank´s

Its not against the license to charge for OS Commerce.
They can sell it for $100,000,000 if they want, if you don't want it- don't buy it.

You can even charge for the Linux distro. You just have to make the source code available. Look at Red Hat they do exactly what that company is doing. Have you ever seen the price tag on Red Hat Enterprise Linux => $2499 or you can download it for free your choice. If you d/l it for free though you get no support for it whatsoever (well if you d/l the 30 day trial you do).
