meta tags

I've just finished the website I made for my band, Heywood Tuesday, (you can see it athttp://heywoodtuesday.netfirms.com). How do I get people to come to it. I've heard META tags can be helpful, but how? Can someone please explain them to me...???
I've attached a copy of the index.html page that should have the META tags,... I think???

Has someone helped you with this?? Metatags are used by search engines to help index your site in results. I think (may be wrong) that your site is invisible to search engines without meta tags. http://javascript.internet.com/miscellaneous/advanced-meta-tag-generator.html is a generator. You don't need to use all the tags, Title, Description and keywords are probably most important. You can delete the rest.

Very few search engines use the meta tags anymore. they were too easy to spam.

They remain a good idea but not something to agonize about.
