Hi, I hope someone can help me with this as the computer has been in the shop and they couldn't figure it out and an online tech support couldn't help me either.

I use an HP pavilion 320, running XP. For about a year now I have been unable to open PDF files, i have uninstalled and reinstalled adobe reader so many times I have lost count. This has not been a real problem for me until now as I really could do without the files. Now I have returned to school and the instructor sends assignments in pdf format, so I have to get this going.

Even after uninstalling and then going to search and deleting any and everything that says adobe, when I shut down I often get a message that adobe is not responding. After this last round of search/delete/uninstall and then reinstall I still can't even open the program when I click on it. The last tech person I talked to said it must be a ghost program using adobe that is causing my problem. So, how do I find the ghost program? Any suggestions on what to do to get Adobe working would be most appreciated.

Thanks
Sunny

This won't fix your adobe reader problem, but it will let you view and print .pdf files. Go to this link http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/rd_intro.php and you can download a free PDF viewr. No spyware, no adware, just free. Good luck.

I had no idea anything like this was available! I just downloaded it and was able to open 4 assignments my instructor had emailed. This will work just as well and maybe someday someone will be able to find the ghost program. Thanks again - you're a life saver (perhaps literally as I am a nursing student)

Wow, does it actually shut down when you close the program or do you have to go into task manager and manually terminate a .dll like you do with adopey?
