I'm providing a site with information on how to install and run a home server (mostly in dutch).
What could be improved (content)? For me, the information that is presented seem to be adequate but this could not be the case for new users having to cope with dynamic DNS, routers, ... I try to explain each subject, but for me it seems so obvious, so maybe i miss some aspects.

For those not understanding english, you still can review the style/navigation/layout, but the only "style" i use is that the pages displays fine on any resolution used.

Hi -
I thought it was *very* confusing - and I'm not talking language, but layout. The images appeared at the right below the header with no info. or content to the left of them: which made me wonder what kind of site this was.

The page was extremely long and the main features weren't that apparent.
[Link styles and size were kind of 'out there' and w/ so many to choose from, also.] But I think this is a great idea/site, content-wise and was compelled to take some liberties with it!

Here's a simplified version - an attempt to 'cut to the chase', if you know what I mean...hope it helps you to streamline a bit more.

The layout is much better, i will try to use it (but not today!)
It looks realy 'professional'
(there is one thing i can't do and that is make a site layout).
Now i have to change the whole design (already 217 static pages and 37 dynamic (CGI) pages ...) I can't live with my outmoded design anymore!

The images on the right are "general images" with no particular meaning, they only have a alt-tag, so visitors could dig to the detail pages if they want more. The text right, halfway the images states: 'more images in full size on the respective pages'. But i'll try to use images that stick more to the text. The images were put there to ... yeah ... otherwise there would be no images at all on the index page, while a large part of the site is about digital photography.

Size The index page content is only 9691 bytes long with 5803 bytes readable content http://web.verfaillie.com/cgi-bin/site?afr_upd.verfaillie.be:20800 (i'm much better at writing scripts). On the index page, each text is a short description of each main links. Since the content is so different, i want the visitors to be able to read a short description before they click on any link (that's why i use the <dl><dt>...<dd> tags). That's the idea of the whole site. I'll try to make the description much shorter.

While i find your example much better, it has one of the major flaws of 'slick, professional looking design': made for 800 pixels. You lose 50% estate with a 1600 * 1200 screen.

Thanks a lot, i'll play somewhat with the provided design.

The site is not a "professional" one, it's a "persoonlijke server" (personal, home based server).
I'm more interested in comments about the content than about the layout. Since the site is content-based, anybody who doesn't understand Dutch will find the site confusing...
