The color combinations are not so good (i hope you wont use them for the photo galleries).
The heading (feature photo and text left, links and cropped image right) is very good, it draws the attention.
Put some padding on the text so it doesn't touch the border... but the blogspot is already sooo narrow... Put it outside of the main body (below 'optimised for firefox 1024 * 768'). To me, the site seems to be optimised for 800 screens. It's realy a curse to have a big, high res display and only being able to use part of it. Use the now available blogspot space to put example images of your art, photography ...

thanks for ur reply, i will make those changes that you suggested
To me, the site seems to be optimised for 800 screens.
I made it for 1024 , it does seem to fit 800 well but i have realised that its not centred, i will correct this soon.
Thanks again

I have done what you suggested and it looks better, it now fills the page on 1024

You need to change your colour scheme, light blue links on light green/blue backgrounds can't be read.
Drop the Iframes if you can (make use of SSI to achieve the same effect)

i havnt used iframes, the blogspot is a scrollable div
your colours arnt the best very hard to read, your using divs for layout but there not working out for you, css2 is bad for three column layouts if you want fixed mixed with variable. your layout is doing that. what you need to do is have variable widths for everything, that means i can jump on my pda and see your site nice or go onto a lil handheld computer and it be still good or use a widescreen monitor and see it still brilliant. how your site has the creativity insparation resource it comes out of the div, to fix this is in css, style="float: right; clear: right;"
do not use <div class="slogan" align="center" align can be achieved in css

The blogspot left is much better.
The link color is not right, it blends too much with the background.
The layout seems "weird" on my computer (i'll check it on a second system later): see what i mean: http://afr_upd.verfaillie.be:20800/edu/screen.jpg
I'm not sure if it's related to the computer i'm using now, it's not my normal pc.

i am not so sure about the menu items top right. smaller resolutions will need to scroll to the right to get anywhere on the site.
we develop all our sites with a max width of 760 (if they are fixed width) for the most important elements of a site - the bonus/extra parts can flow over into the right-hand side.

dera: thnks for your comments, I am not really very good with CSS, so could you explain to me a bit further what you mean, as it sounds really like what i need, if you get the time.
