I know there are sites out there somewhat like http://www.operationtruth.net but I was wondering what you think about the design (but probably more importantly, the idea). I want this to be a little more structured than a discuss anything type site.

Thanks in advance

Errr...it looks a bit...white and blank. Where did you get the idea anyway? I think it's kind of pointless, no offense meant. But about the design: the logo looks a bit like it had not finished downloading...maybe you could add something in the middle of the triangle? And I don't think the google-ad helps much either. I guess the design itself is ok though.

I hope I didn't offend you!

Really, scojo1, your lack of structure is one of the things that makes me refrain from using your site. It's good that you're looking into this part of creating the website.

First, the design is REALLY boring: it doesn't draw me into using your service. Maybe, once you figure out the focus, some additional design elements can be added.

Another minor thing: the name "OperationTruth.net" sort of reflects that this site is some sort of religious forum.

To get really philosophical on you - who's to say what's the truth? I'm just not sure how well your users will respond to being blasted with "the truth" from people who only understand the poster's personal problems through a few lines typed into a forum. Could create some scary situations.

we were going for the more 'industrial' look, but could spice it up a bit.... would some graphics help out?

Before working on the design, you should probably work on the "mission" of the site. Figure out what it's going to be doing for the global community.

You need to make it more inviting. The "industrial look" is a bit clinical, sterile. There are reasons that psychologists have comfy furniture, nice accessories, warm colors and lighting; it's to create a comfortable atmosphere, comfortable enough for people to start talking.

Graphics will help. So will more color. But, like I initially wrote, you need to figure out how this site is going to work before adding those components.

What do you mean?

if you have no intention of adding color thats one thing...

I personally think it needs at least 1 color added... Perhaps a brown or a deep green.... Look at color theory and you'll see those might be your best choices.

ALso the text is leaving me empty and doesn't make me energised to post or to join the community.

The line:
We know you have an opinion, and if your wife/husband/boyfriend/girlfriend has tried to change your opinions, don't worry, we won't tell them what's really on your mind!

After rereading it 3 times I finnaly got what you were trying to say, however i think it should be reworked.

I still think you should change your logo, add something inside. And it still looks a bit white and grey, no eye-catching colors.
