IE5.02Mac confused by PNGs... sometimes.

I just had a real jaw-dropper with IE5Mac. (Not that it's never given me trouble before.) The thing will show the first three .png images on my page, but in place of the others, it gives the RED X. When I try to load them manually I get the dialog "Internet Exploder is confused and stupid. What should I do with this... this Ping Thing?" Why does it load some and not others. (All other browsers like 'em just fine.)

To Boot: If I right click on one of the pngs that DID display, and select "Open Image in New Window," I get the same dialog box (What should IE do)?!?!?!?!?!?

Not sure how to fix it, but have you tried using .jpg or .gif as a substitute?

Of course I could substitute a jpg or gif. But doesn't that defeat the purpose of png? I suppose this is a browser issue, but I am wondering how prevalent this bug is. Very curious how it'll recognize some pngs and not others.

IE for mac is a dead browser. If it were me, I wouldnt even try to make it work.
