Hi, i have created this website for a local band. www.theparoles.co.uk (http://www.theparoles.co.uk)

What are your thoughts on the overall look/design - does it look unprofessional or tacky??

Some helpful advice on your critisisms would be very helpful.

Thanks

Hi james_d_kelly -

Your site is OK. One thing that bothers me is that it isn't visually interesting. I think that is caused by the font choices: whether the style or color. The usage of "Times New Roman" for the horizontal navigation doesn't exactly make me think hip and happenin'. (It's more for a band of librarians rather than a rock band!) The "Broadway/Showtime" font for "Latest News" doesn't exactly fit, either. I suggest you look at some free font sources for inspiration. "Agency" or "Impact" might go well.

I really like the b/w graphic of the band - I just don't think that your design seems to compliment it.

Good Luck!

Hi KDLA,

Thanks for your thoughts and advice!
Yes, i have been told to sort out the fonts, the reason the fonts are the default fonts - "times new roman" etc, is because im using fonts that i have download - which is great for me when looking at the site but not for other people that dont have that font installed. I was about to make gifs of the fonts that im using but i came accross font embbedding using Microsoft WEFT program which enables me to state custom fonts as i would with a defalt font, (if that makes sence?).

Thanks, keep the advice coming...

Totally agreeing with you. (I meant, but didn't specify...) Try making images for the horizontal navigation - it might look more interesting.

Good Luck -
