I just got a PCI/ISA POST card a few days ago. Someone dropped off a system for me to look at that has apsolutely no activity. So, obviously, I used the card on it and found that the system halts on POST code 'FE'. Just one problem, I CANT FIND THE TRANSLATION FOR CODE 'FE' ANYWHERE!!

I'm assuming that since 'FE' is the only thing displayed (These cards show every code the BIOS outputs, not just the failures) that it's either the, or part of the, BIOS or the CPU, since most BIOS test either of those first, but I want to be sure.

Can anyone help me on this one??

Nevermind; I got it.

After performing and CMOS reset, the system now halts on 'E6', which is 'Testing BIOS ROM', meaning the BIOS is shot.

sexy. Can it be saved through a flash?

Nope; it's 'taps' for this board. :( It haults before BIOS searches for a boot loader. No bother, it's an older board anyway.
