text menu

okay, I swear I saw a tutorial on htmlgoodies (http://htmlgoodies.com) for making a text menu, but I couldn't find it. I've been trying to fid out how to do the menu on the right side......any help would be appreciated :confused:

and i'm trying to change the left menu thing so the bacground of it just stretches down the more I post news.
