If you ask me, google probes all forms of privacy. Yet we still openly and willingly give our souls to it everyday. baijie 09-22-2005, 11:49 PM :) theuedimaster 09-24-2005, 01:48 PM Society is too paranoid. Ewww. gchick 09-24-2005, 04:12 PM they're reacting too much.... the tree 09-24-2005, 04:50 PM If you do something in public view then you can't complain that people might watch. PeOfEo 09-24-2005, 05:37 PM psh... I love to look at military installations on google. For example: norfolk aircraft carriers http://home.comcast.net/~quasi-modo/norfolk.gif and here is mayport in my hometown jacksonville http://home.comcast.net/~quasi-modo/mayport.gif David Harrison 09-24-2005, 07:57 PM If Google could get those images to put on Google Earth, then I'm pretty sure any Government could have lain their hands on them any time they wanted, so all this fuss is just because Google bought a GUI off nVidia (which has been around for quite a while I might add) to look at them in? Don't get your knickers in a twist over nothing. wamboid 09-26-2005, 09:28 AM Also, it's not like they are showing troop movements or anything. Some of these images are really old. Mausau2000 09-28-2005, 01:42 AM The world is 2 paranoid ... PhillMc 10-01-2005, 05:33 PM I was playing around with Google Earth and I came accross something strange. I know it's probably a glitch, but it's a strange one. Anyone using GE goto (EXACTLY) 36 13'08.98 N, 112 12'46.08 W (COPY AND PASTE), then zoom into about 7500 feet; what do you think that is??? David Harrison 10-01-2005, 05:53 PM Obviously it's the Earth tearing itself apart. Alternatively, zoom out to 15,000 and look at the slightly different coloured landscape, it's just where the edge of one of the pictures is a bit funky. Go to around 10,000 and play with the angle setting, it's very cool how they've done the terrain, it's not just a sphere with some images stuck on the surface. PhillMc 10-01-2005, 05:58 PM I figured as much, but I wonder why no other mismatch does it (different sat. passes at different times), btw, that runs for hundreds of miles. PhillMc 10-01-2005, 06:45 PM I started looking around trying to find out why this happens only to find out that there are people (even large groups of people) claiming that these are verses from the Koran or even new verses for the Bible... </cackling> David Harrison 10-04-2005, 09:32 AM That doesn't even make the slightest bit of sense... Those people should be locked up. Anyway, I found another little bug. I was bored to I went to 0, 0. Then I started flying round the Earth and I noticed summat a little odd, so I took a screen shot of it. Look at my co-ordinates, specifically the longitude. :p Edit: It seems to suffer this bug in quite a lot of places, for example I told it to fly to the south pole, (-90, 0) and it took me to 89*59'60.00" S 0*00*00.00" E. webdeveloper.com
