The Point???

I still get the point of XML??? It seems to me to be very lame and boring. You can do so much more than using ASP Or JAVA.... It seems dumb to me.. Anyone let me understand why i would want to use XML???

Actually I'd dare to say otherwise.The only reason behind the creation of XML standard is the sole differences of ASP and Java like languages and there none compliance to the w3c standards.

XML itself does not do anything,its only a tool that brings the programming languages,OS and software environment differences to its minimum.Imagine if any program written in any language if it can read and write XML then data and information transfer will happen without any problem.An thats the force of XML.
to understand XML one has to not think like any other programming language where you need a compiler that creates an executeable or bytecode.XML is merely a fancy text file that follows strict rules devised by W3C to make peoples life easier who may have to communicate amongs differente OS's and programming languages.
