is it better to have 100 links pointing to your site with each link having a PR of 3 or is it better to 50 links pointing to your site with each link having a PR of 6?

I thought the pagerank business was scrapped about a year ago...?

In general, the more links the better. I'm sure, however, exists the case where less links pointing to you would yield better placement if those less links were on higher placed sites.

so you are saying that the 50 links with PR6 is better? pagerank business will only go away if google wants it too. to rank high on google, pang ranks is important. the purpose of the question is to see if quality is better then quantity. I think quality is better then quality with links and it will save time for submitting since there are less links to submit.

Google haven't scrapped PageRank - they have just stopped using it as much in determining the order in which results are listed. How (Larry) Page ranks a web page overall does not necessarily reflect its relative importance with regard to specific search terms and Google have changed their algorithms to reflect this.

To give you an example...on average a PR6 has about 20 times more influence than a PR5. If you can really find 50 PR5, PR6 to trade with, than definitely go that route. It will take 100+ PR3 links to do that same thing a couple PR6s can do. :)

More backlinks = more pagerank. No matter of link`s pagerank.
