Hi there,

I've been using security programs for my PDF files so people can't open it unless they have a key or password & can't move it from one computer to another.

I do give them permissions to print, so that has to be an option.

The first program was very buggy & not user friendly. The second one I have to pay for per month & sometimes I have to generate the key twice in order for the customer to be able to open the file & for some reason I never get the keys.

So I thought, what if Open Source has something.

Does anyone know of anything that's really good & user friendly both for me & the customer?

Thanks & have a great day!

Michelle

PDF files have secuirty built in that can disable the ability to open without a password and/or the ability to update the PDF once opened. The only thing the built-in security can't do is to stop the entire file being copied but there is no way to stop that anyway. All you need to do to apply secuirty is to open the PDF in Acrobat, select File/Save As and then select the required security options.

Yes there is a way to stop the file from being sent from computer to computer & that's what I specifically said I was looking for in my original post.

People can do print screen & there is no way to prevent that, but that's not what I asked to avoid.

Thanks, but I do know what I'm talking about. I've been dealing with this issues & these types of security programs for years & Adobe is very weak when it comes to security.
