PHP & Account Activation

I would like to send link to activate account.
Please help me as I'm new how to
1. generate random variable at account creation to be used for activation
and how to
2. random variable attach to
the URL to be used for activation :)

as has been repeated by numerous others, we arn't here to code items for you, but to fix problems. If you have some code, then feel free to post it w/ the accompaning issue and we can help....also i'd suggest using the search feature on the forums. i know i've seen this before when someone needed help, it was a long while back but it might still be on the forums....if it doesn't exists on the forums go to http://google.com and search for what your looking for, there are tons of tutorials on that item.
