My pages are cached and regularly spidered have a pr3 have first page on msn and yahoo for certain keywords. Can only find site by using url or words from url. my homepage www.skyecooks.co.uk/ is indexed but index.html is a supplemental result and does not seem to have been cached since June when site was originally indexed. If anyone out there can explain this or what we can do to rectify this please look at site our meta and page content is not being spidered. We do come up on first page on google for some keywords but this is via sites where we have text links. Im a\bit of a novice and dont understand the tech speak java 404 etc, so any help is greatly apreciated.

Google will not index similar pages.
Google will only index the first page it founds.
Remove the page that doesn't get indexed or better, provide a redirect (http moved permanently) to the other page.

On my server index.html is the homepage but if i acess via search engine then the page is www.skyecooks.co.uk/ so index.html is a supplemental result. how do i solve this. I only have 1 homepage no copies of it.

This is the "normal behaviour" of any webserver; deliver the index page when no page is specified.

Actually this is an unimportant detail. Just make sure that only one URL is published and posted (otherwise you will dilute your page rank).

Simple answer: forget about index.html
Don't mention it. NEVER.
If it's never mentionned, it doesn't exist.

so it would be wise to change any links to index.html to the other
