THIS IS LONG, BUT I REALLY NEED HELP :(
Hi Everyone :)
I'm trying to install a CMS (Content Managemente System) on my hosting account called Siteseed, in order to do that i need to run a couple of pearl scripts and i've tried to do it but i can't :(
The instrucion said:
Lets put Siteseed in place and configure it:
Make sure pearl its capable of running the script "striptags.pl" included in this archive! If so copy the script to /usr/local/bin and make it executable by your web server. uid/gid, whatever you feel it is safer in your system)
- Copy the script "striptags.pl" (included in this archive) to your "/usr/local/bin" (this
script removes the html garbage that wvWare creates from word documents).
- There is a very basic instalation script (install.pl) that comes with the package and it is
probably the best approach that you may follow. Before running the script CHECK IT OUT. It
moves a lot of stuff to the target webserver directory you choose, changes file permissions and
creates some softlinks. So audit it before doing anything else.
If you decide you wanna go with the script (instead of doing those operations by hand) try
something like this (changing the values to something that makes sense on your system):
---------------Snapshot ------------------
[root@zealot teste]# ./install.pl
Siteseed v?.? r?/???????? install script (version ? / ??-??-????) started...
Please give the full path to the webserver docs directory...
NOTE: do not use a trailling slash at the end! ("/path" is correct. "/path/" is not...)
/home/www/htdocs
Please give the project name (a directory will be created in "/home/www/htdocs"
using the same name)...
NOTE: a single word, with 4-8 digits, is expected...
sshome
Please specify the NUMBER under which group your web server runs (On OpenBSD its group "Whell" number "0", on Linux is usually group "nobody" with groupid "99"; check in "/etc/group")...
0
Installing files...
/home/www/htdocs/ssdefs ..........
/home/www/htdocs/ssdefs/article .....
/home/www/htdocs/ssdefs/cache .
/home/www/htdocs/ssdefs/object ..
/home/www/htdocs/ssdefs/include .........

/home/www/htdocs/sshome/bo/users .........
Install has finished with no errors.
I don't understand half of what they said up there, and i really want to install that thing.
I talked to my hosting company to see where i could find the pearl directory on my account, and they told me this:
You can upload the files to your document root.
And please set up the path for the scripts as /usr/bin/perl.
I think i did that, but i'm not sure, nothing seems to be execuring.
Thanks for taking the time to help me!!! You guys are great!! :)
