An important/authorative member of the firm in which I work dropped a project on me  - taking my mild interest in these assorted subject as talent -

He would like to see the company Organizational Chart (70 people), Created in VISIO, turned into a web page. I know there is a funciton to which you can simply save it as a web page, however they would like it, so when you move the mouse over the sqaure that pertains to a single person, a pop-up bubble comes up, with the persons Title, Position, Name etc. Continuing, when you move the cursor over their name, another pop bubble appears with their photograph and a bit about the person.

I understand how to link the peoples photographs and provide the text, as well as making it a web page, but I have not the slightest on how to create the pop up graphics, caused by mouse movement.

PLEASE HELP!? I have a visual of what they would like to see, I can e-mail to anyone who may know!

This is no small feat. Do you have any scripting experience at all?

If you use the Org Chart default behaviors, you can right click on an org shape and define Properties. Name, Title, Department, and Telephone are defaults. If you define a new property in this area say picture and include the image tag in the value, and save as Web Page, it will include it in the custom properties display when you mouse over it.

LOL, this is an inherent property of that Visio program? Great! I never heard of the thing. Thank you Mr. May.

It's hidden pretty deep in there, but in digging around one night I found it. May not be exactly what he's looking for, but it may work for him...

Well good work. I would never have found it since I'm not at all acquainted with the program or what it does. I'll delete my reply. Would only confuse unnecessarily.

Thanks for the suggestions, No, no scripting experience, but I'm prone to picking things up at a quick pace... especially when a VP asks me to assemble something.

Anyway you can further elaborate on the functions in VISIO. -The final product is not to be based in that program, it SHOULD be an HTML file, hosted on our firm's intranet.

Well if I understand Mr. May correctly, you can set this up in visio and save as a webpage. I've never seen or even heard of the program so I really can't be of any help, and if you've never done any scripting, you won't be able to use my example to arrive at a solution.

Had to step out for a bit.

Yes, I was talking about using Visio to generate the HTML after altering the properties for the position. To alter the properties you'll Right Click on the box in the org chart that you want to add properties to and select Properties from the drop down. In the dialog box that comes up click on Defne, Click on New, Change the name of the property to "Picture", type should already be set to string so go to value and type in the image tag you want to use (i.e. <img src="..Images/Bear.gif" />), and click okay.

When you do a save as web page it will generate an HTML file and a folder with supporting files. As long as the image location is correct you'll see the image when you mouseover the position on the web view.

Attached are two zip files. Vorg.zip is the Visio Document that I used to generate the files contained in Vorg_files.zip. Vorg_files.zip contains the HTML and supporting files (the Images directory is the one I created to demo this and is not created by Visio).

Checking this out further, code generated works on IE, but seems to cause an error in FireFox (why would I expect anything different from a MS product  )- I'll look at it if I get a chance and see if I can isolate the problem.

Hope this helps.

I've looked at what needs to be done to use FF, and it's not too bad, but will require a little time to walk through and correct. So, LucianGrey check to make sure that this is an acceptable solution for you format wise, and if you need to make this work in FF also let me know.

Alright,
I will look into in depth per your explanation tomorrow from home (as this is due monday)...

I would now but I am at work. Foremost, Thank you for all of the help you both have afforded to me thus far! It means a great deal.

Secondly, I'd like to show you the example they gave me, on what they'd like to see happen, it would help. My Problem is, I cannot upload it here, it is 800kb - when I zipped it, it was 600kb, the limit here, is 100kb. If you'd like to look at it (It's a .pdf.. and a .vsd) Please E-mail at Lucian.Savage@mulvannyg2.com And I'll forward it to you. I am hoping this is possible (you looking at it) so you can see if the suggestions you've provided will in fact, match the requirements they've set.

Thanks again,
