Find cursor place in Textarea

How Do i find onClick the cursor place in the textarea
i need the substring from start to the clicked place

thank you but its not what i need :(
i dont want to select ONLY CLICK
what i need is when the user click IN the textarea
for example alert the position, the charIndex
like : "YOU ARE NOW AT CHAR NUBER ??? OF TEXT".
