Hi Everyone,

I am a DJ and currently have a website where I take pictures at peoples events and post them on the web. I am meeting with my yellow pages rep today to sign a HUGE contract and I want to have a listing in photography as well.

The thing I am contemplating is: If I go under photography, and the person already has a DJ and they hire me, should I have a generic website that maybe says powered by: My Company or should I keep everything on my DJ site and just run it off of that? Keep in mind that my its more than a DJ company, I do live sound, audio production and the photos.

Also, if I were to shoot photos and post them on the web at your event, how much would you pay?

It would be awesome to get as many opinions as possible. Have a GREAT day!

I guess the question is, are you planning on becoming a good DJ, a good photographer, or mediocre at both?
If you post those pictures on your website, I can't see how the clients would percieve that of value to them.
If you used the photo angle as a value added service to the DJ biz, I could see where you would have a leg up on your competition. I can't really see how on the otherhand, someone seeking photographic services, would consider that as value.

why don't you market yourself as a media company with the main angle being DJ'ing?

You have to be honest with yourself here.

Do you really want to offer photography services? Do you honestly have the experience in professional photography? Are you only planning to make an extra buck?

Make a true, smart business decision here.

As for your Web site, well, can we have a look at it? See how it is atm.
