i need to know how to convert a photoshop file from CS version to version 6.

is it only a "save as..." in photoshop cs?

I know in Illustrator you can save "Legacy" files for older versions, as far as photoshop goes you can try just .psd and it should be ok unless you have features that version 6 does not support. Or you can try Photoshop pdf, tiff or .jpg if you dont need layers, but i dont think there is a way to save for an older version.

I believe all you have to do is make sure your psd doesn't have anything applied that isn't in ps6. I use ps7 at home and CS2 at work. For example: Photoshop 7 doesn't support nested folders in the layers so it barfs on me if I try to open a file that does this. However; if I move the layers out of the nested folder and delete the empty folder, it works just fine. As long as there's nothing that isn't able to be used in 6 it should open up fine.
