i would like to know what you guys think of my redesign of html-site.nl
the site right now you can see at http://www.html-site.nl
the new one you can see at http://www.html-site.nl/index-html401.php
the original is in xhtml 1.0, the new one is going to be in xhtml 1.0 as well, but is now written in html 4.01 (this is just for your information not to start a discussion about it!)
probably you can mention what could be better, or maybe the original one is better.
by the way it's a dutch website, so maybe you don't understand anything about it...

Should there be something in that top inch or so of the center column?

The more recent one is definately an improvement. I don't really see why the title and site logo is so small and tucked into the corner, why not have a decent sized header?

The biggest problem is the way the menu dissappears without Javascript. If I were you I would create a menu in HTML and CSS then make it collapse with Javascript (using something like this (http://www.vladdy.net/demos/tree.html)) that way it'll be accessable and search engine friendly as well as doing the whole collapsing thing.

oke, thanks for the opinion about the menu. i could try to make nother one, but this one i have on my website from the beginning.
i choose to put a little logo in the corner mainly for people with small screens. i want to show the first two articles in the first impression.
