I don't know where this topic should go - so if Admin or Mod's can help me with this (possibly by moving it but letting me know where to?) then it's much appreciated, and I'm sorry for the inconvenience!!

OK, the problem...

I'm *trying desperately* to build a site using .asp / page connected to a database yah-de-yah-da...
However, using Dreamweaver, I can't seem to test the page - F12 previewing shows a "page cannot be found" error, even though its pointing to the correct file/location...
Now I think it's something to do with a lack of IIS on my pc? I have XP, and it's fully up-to-date as far as i know, but I can't find the c:/Irbnet (or something like that) file which indicates that IIS is installed?
I've tried start>control panel>add remove programs>add remove windows stuff but IIS isn't listed on there (Dreamweaver help says it should be?), and I've tried looking around the Microsoft web site, but I can't find a download for IIS off there (just for toolkits and managers for it :( )

Does anyone have any idea:

1) Why I can't preview/test my pages
2) Where I can get a download of IIS from (for free preferably?)

Does anyone have any further advice regarding this?

Thanks for the help, and again I apologise for inconvienence if this is in the wrong Forum / location (admin/mods please don't ban me, I really like this board and aren't deliberately breaking rules! :( ) :confused:

Youll Need your windows XP Pro Disk to install.
If you only have xp Home then you either need to get xp Pro or find another web server. I think there are a few free ones, not positive.

Start->Settings->ControlPanel->Add or Remove Programs->
Click Add/Remove Windows Componenets(located on left side bar)
Find IIS in the list, check it, click Details, Make sure FrontPage 2000 Server Extensions and IIS Snap-In are checked (you dont need the snap-in but its handy)

Click OK
Click Next

Thats it.

I would recommend using firefox or IE to check your site and how it looks. I wouldn't count on dreamweaver showing you everything correctly.
