I'm not sure if this is the right section to post in, but none of the others seemed relevant.
I've been doing web design for a while, but so far no real heavy scripting or database stuff. I have however developed several ASP.NET/SQL Server apps at work, and I know my way round relational databases. I've started playing with MySQL as well.
I have a client who wants to allow her users to register on the site, in order to have a more personalised service on the site and receive newletters etc.
Also, she wants them to be able to book appointments (Unfortunately I don't yet know what current system she uses for this, so am unsure as to how the two would link together to avoid double-booking).
My questin is which technology to use? I'm thinking PHP and MySQL as I'll probably need the database for the bookings, storing user data etc. I can then also build in content management later on.
I have a good book on using PHP and MySQL, and it doesn't seem too hard to pick up, but then I'm on a fairly tight schedule.
Any thoughts on this?
