I've seen this tool mentioned in many places, including the photoshop help. But I can't find it, it shows a picture like if a finger pointing down (here (http://bryang.com/forum-pix/webdesign/smudge.jpg) but I can't find it anywhere. I have photoshop cs2 and this is driving me nutz.
I go to the help, it just says
1. Select the Smudge tool
2. choose blah blah blah and so on
but it never tells you where to select it from. Either I'm blind or it's hidden.

OK I have a couple problems with your post first of all...

from the way you have your question I'm going to say you did not buy this copy of Photoshop. CS2 just came out recently and it's not a likely event that you bought it and didn't get a manual or the quick reference sheet. Nor do you seem familar with way the photoshop menus work.

But to answer your question it's under another tool in the tool bar. However here is the quick way to access this tool. Hit the Key on your keyboard labeled "R" this will hotkey the sharpen, blur, smudge set. ANy of those menu listings with a triangle in the corner have a submenu below it. Click and hold and the menu will pop out. giving you that option to select.

I've read many articles that claim you can use photoshop for years and never learn all of it. Who are you to accuse me of stealing this? And I am familiar, I've been using photoshop for almost 7 years, I just never used used that function before.
You really presume a lot.
NO, I didn't buy it, it's not even on my computer, it's on a computer at my company, during my breaks and after work I play with it, their computers are so much faster than mine, the problem is when I'm here none of the guys that work with PS are, so I made the mistake of posting my question here. But why am I explaining this to you, it's none of your business.
And as for as your help goes, you don't need to click and hold for the menu to pop out, all you have to do is right click and it pops out, so it seems I'm more familiar with the way photoshop menus works than you are. I just overlooked where the smudge tool is, and because of that you give me all this crap.
Not that this is any of your concern, I have an older version of PS on my machine, the company I work for gave it to me a few years ago, I guess they had extra licences of that one.
While I appreciate your help, you don't have the right to make those accusations.

Well I was 100% on the money. As an FYI have you used it on the Mac? Where there is no right mouse button?? I thought not.

Now as a person who pays for this program, I don't need or want to hear your overly creative reasons on how you got it. Just agree with the fact that software piracy is a contributing factor in higher costs in software.

As far as the remarks about how long it takes to use the program those are certain aspects of the program not general functionallity.

I over looked the fact that you might be on a mac, just like you over looked the fact I may be on a computer with PS CS2 that's not mine.
I'm against software piracy as well, more than that, music and movie piracy also.
Just because you paid for yours and I didn't doesn't make you a better person than me. I have an old version of Photoshop on my PC, the company had the right to give me a copy, they owned the licences. Same with my OS, a friend of mine had a 10 licence copy of windows XP and he gave me one, he only needed 6 for his classroom. Because I networked his PCs and did a web page for his school I'm kind of like his employee, so he helped me.

Is this wrong?

Mainly, I really don't care if you don't need or want to hear my overly creative reasons on how I got it, your not the only one reading this thread. In my profile I have a link to one of my home pages (I took it down now), and that links to my other pages. One is the page I did for my church and their school. I don't need lies going around that I pirate or have pirated software.

Yeah guys BB will yank you if you don't tone it down, trust me I know.

Although I agree that was a heck of an assumption from just reading one post.

However holding down the left button over the tools window button works on a PC (as well right clicking).

Did you find it under the one that looks like a tear drop? Of course that's in CS. He's right CS2 is too new to have convinced the company to upgrade.

I wouldn't mind this thread being locked, and deleted. It's rare when I have a question, I try to keep my questions to the point and before I ever ask, I search the web, then the forum, then finally, if nothing turned up, I'll start a thread.
I'm sorry to everyone that this went so far, and this will be my last post in this thread.

If you click and hold on the button above the arrow, it should be in a sub menu.

The button is about 7 buttons from the top on the left

The arrow is about 8 buttons from the top on the left as well.

(both are in your tool bar on the left of the screen)
