I created a PNG image with a transparent background in PSP8 using the Background Eraser tool. But when I display it on my web page, the background is white instead of transparent. How do I get the background to display as transparent? Thanks.

What are you viewing it with? Can you post a link to the image?

Click on "file" then click on "Save For Web..."

A window will open, and under "save" "cancel" and "done" It should say "Preset:" Click on the drop down next to it and change the option to "PNG-24"

Under that a new set of options will open, and make sure transparency has a check in the box.

Click save, and save as you normally would.

I know this is in PS CS2, and im not sure if it is in PSP8. But their would be something like it, if there is.

Just want to point out that Internet Explorer currently doesn't support transparent PNG's.

I have found that I.E. does support PNG-8 format, and I've been told it will also support PNG-24 depending on how the graphic files are exported from Photoshop etc.

It accepts transparent PNG-8 is affectively it’s the same transparency as GIF uses it’s the channels M$IE has issues with in PNG-24 one of the pages I worked on: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PNG

If you want the transparent background, you must save the file for the web and save it as a ".gif" file.

Latest IE supports only one level of alpha transparency for PNG - much like GIF. Older versions do not support it at all.
