Hi,

Wasn't sure where to post this, but I'm after someone's opinion on whether I would benefit from creating the site using php, mysql etc, I started teaching myself this and read some info on cms.
Basically I was hoping that if it was in a database form or something then maybe it would be easier to update the gig list and adding new cd's etc. At the moment it's not a pain to update in dreamweaver but also being able to programme the site in a different language would help me with my learning curve.

Thank you

Rob

Moved to general since it's more fitted there than an actual review.

While the site could benefit from some useage of a server side language, I'm not sure how much a database is going to be needed. You said you wanted to store the info. Is there anything else you want to do with it beyond that? If you were to want to make the data searchable and such, then it's a no brainer about adding a database. I have a friend who does her own site and all of the music side of the stuff is done via hand code. Now, if you start adding a decent number of albums, songs, and other such data, then I could come up with a number of neat things to do with a database. As long as the amount of data is fairly small, then the need isn't exactly there.

Ok thanks for your reply.

I've been thinking about it today and think I'll just leave it as it but what I will do is add some kind of player, that when someone clicks a sample track it loads into the player and plays from there, I think this wil be better as there may be more control having a player rather than having the sample tracks as they are. I do want to learn database development and thought i could do something with it, but I'll just redo the site and make it appear nicer and more sharp and tidy up the backend, if you know what i mean. thanks anyway for your input.
