reading/writing cookies

i need your help i wish to put a cookie on my website which allows me to tell if users have previously viewed my website (say in the last week) and if they have it will point them to one page and if its not it will point them to a different page how is this possible?

Yes, it's possible. See setcookie() (http://www.php.net/setcookie) and the $_COOKIE reserved variable (http://www.php.net/manual/en/reserved.variables.php#reserved.variables.cookies).
