Openning Images

I have several road maps on an internal webpage, set up as BMP files. Clicking on the link will open up the maps within my browser. Is there a way to chooose which program will open up the file? I wish to have the picture viewer do to the fact that it has better printing capabilities(Will resize to fit to the page and not crop the image).

Can probably be done with some ActiveX but that will 1. Only work in IE 2. Make every security application ever want to bite your head off.
Most computers will be able to change the default program for given file types.
