Not correct character encoding when backing up my dbase using MySQl Administrator

Hi all!
I use MySQL Administrator to keep backups of my dbase. I use MySQL 4.0. The problem is that when I create a backup (there are greek characters within the dbase), the greek characters are not displayed correctly. MySQL Administrator claims that the default charset for making backups is UTF-8 but when I try to restore the dbase and I select UTF-8, the data are not shown correctly again. Does anybody have any ideas?

What happens when you try the restore using the greek charset? My notion is that this is one of the quirks in MySQL Administrator - unable to pickup default character sets properly.
